The 29th day of March at 23:36 hundred hours will mark the sinking of the William Pierce Frye 70 years ago; I will say a prayer for the men lost that day at that time. On that day at 12:30 hours in the afternoon I will raise my bottle of beer in memory of the men that served on this ship and my hope is that you will too. For the Nephews, Nieces, and grandchildren left behind, I salute you; Gannon McHale, Bill Barrett, Alan Poore, Holly, and Irene Clough Hahn. “Fair Winds and Following Seas”

Scott,
My Dad's older brother, Orville Dean Rhine, was killed on this ship. Apparently for years my Grandmother was told no one survived. She never got over his loss. We only found out a few years ago that his name was on a memorial in England. I hope to see it some day. He was a young North Dakota farm boy away from home for the first time. Thanks for posting this. I will share it with my Dad, who just turned 87. Kathy Rhine Bertram
